Biography:

Mark Spellman graduated with Honors from Drake University Law School in 1994.  He obtained a Masters of Law (LL.M) Degree in health law at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois in 1995 while working at the law firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP.

He then returned to Iowa, where he commenced the practice of law at the Spellman Law Firm.  He is admitted to practice and handles cases in all counties of the State of Iowa, Federal District Courts in both the Southern and Northern Districts of Iowa, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  He serves clients at both the Des Moines and Perry offices of Spellman Law Firm.

For over 20 years, he has experience handling hundreds of litigated civil cases throughout the State of Iowa in both federal and state district courts.  He represents clients in a wide variety of matters, with a special emphasis on professional liability, workers' compensation, personal injury, wrongful death, and product liability cases.

In addition to trying numerous cases before juries across Iowa, he has successfully argued appellate cases before the Iowa Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  

Mark and his wife Ann reside in Waukee, Iowa with their 2 sons.  Mark is active in numerous charitable and community activities, including raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  He currently serves on the Board for the Iowa Team in Training program for LLS.  In his free time, he enjoys hunting, traveling, cycling, and spending time with family.
